It was another cold evening for this time of year. The beavers were not very happy with me tonight. They would swim near the boat and with a powerful slap of the tail which made a ker splunk sound, would vanish. They would then re-appear and repeat the process over and over. I also saw a deer at the waters edge; this was the first sighting of the year. She was very content at eating her aquatic salad, paying me little attention.. Her summer coat was radiating a crimson color in the fading light.
