Comments:

Today was my first and I think my last trip fishing the Black River for muskies. I just have never been very impressed with this body of water for muskies. I do know they do catch some out of here and supposedly some nice ones, but I have never had much luck. Tonight was no different.
The water level was fairly low, but not so low that it made navigation difficult. We fished from the landing up to about the first set of rapids towards the dam and we fished below the boat landing to the first set of rapids. We each caught a pike just above the spot where they had done all the rip rap work along the bank. Scott also had a follow by a low to mid thirty inch fish in this location.

Observations:

The weather again was not our friend. We got rained on for most of the trip and we did have to take shelter next to shore when our existence was threatened by some rather intense lightning. The mosquitoes were just horrible around the boat landing, but once we were on the water they did subside slightly. There was basically no fish action tonight, I did not see anything chasing bait fish nor did I see anything feeding on insects.
