Comments:

It was my first trip of the year up to Trempealeau and I wished I would have waited. I do not think the high water had such a bad effect on my success as did the muddy water. My fish catching ability just is dismal when the water is muddy. I did not catch a lot of fish, but I did catch fish and I did have a good time. I learned some new water and possibly a new technique. I met a couple of fishermen that were loading their boat at the landing when I was and they had a decent catch of some rather large channel cats. I was a little nosey and quizzed them a little bit, and they revealed to me that the fish were caught on chicken livers. Well guess what, I am going to try chicken livers on my next cat fish outing.

Observations:

The Mississippi River is high and quite muddy. I was up in the upper stretches of Black Smith and the water was really ripping through there.
