It was a short early morning adventure on the river today. I tried the back sloughs close to home, and they produced very little in fish.
I did happen upon a doe and her fawn. Both were partly obscured by the morning fog. I think this gave them a false sense of security, since they hardly gave me a second look. On the ride back to the landing just outside the mouth of the channel there were several hundred gulls and a handful of pelicans. I think they are feeding on an abundant supply of baitfish.
