Comments

I had heard the crappies were in the sloughs relating to wood and biting. And they were! They were pretty easy to come by. The strategy I used was to cast a small jig dressed with plastic and allow it to sink a few feet before retrieving it. If there were any crappies present I would have a fish within the first or second cast.
I then moved to the Hammond Chute area looking for perch, I caught one along with several bluegills. I did catch a couple of pretty nice bass to round out the evening.

Observations

The weed growth in the Hammond Chute area is much less than it normally is for this time of year.
