Even though Scott was just married this past weekend he called me up to go flat head fishing tonight. It was a good thing he called me, because Karen said I could not call him. Almost makes a guy wonder if there was a wedding or a funeral. In fact, this was his third day on the river since he got married on Saturday. Scott and Adam had a good night last night, bringing five fish boat side. Scott and I figured we were both going to do will on the flats tonight, but it did not happen.
Bait gathering was a little bit of work, in most spots we would pick up one or two and have to move on. We caught bluegills a few small perch and I caught about six nice sized crappies. After we filled the live well with our supply of bait, we had a few minutes to turn our attention to small mouth bass. I manned the trolling motor and did all the positioning while Scott fished. The small mouths were not as active tonight, but he did catch two respectable ones in about ten minutes.

Observations:

The river is still dropping, but the flow and water temperature are still quite high. The condition of the back waters are becoming quit scummy and dead looking.
