It was a quick scouting trip for an upcoming guided trip, and the targets were bass and pike. I did not find any pike, but I did find the bass. I was also pleasantly surprised that I discovered a school of small mouths.
I was targeting the big marsh area and once again it did not disappoint. The large mouths were not everywhere, but one spot in particular held an abundance of fish. After fishing several spots in the area, I got venturesome and thought I would throw a bait or two at the smallmouths. This turned out to be a wise decision, as I found a substantial number that were more than eager to bite. These fish were relating to a rather isolated wing dam on the Minnesota side that I like to fish.

Observations:

The water coming out of the Black is incredibly clear. I saw a fawn on one of the islands I was fishing tonight. Once again, most of the fish came on a swim jig.
